Boston B&B's

I may be going to a convention in Boston at the end of July. Are there any good B&B's that are convenient (even near subway with short ride--I like mass transit) and reasonable in expense (under $90/night)? I just ask for clean, safe, a/c. Thanks.

What are your travel dates? July 26 - 29 is the Democratic National Convention, there are no rooms anyplace, much less convenient. Conventioneers are expected to arrive early (the weekend before) and stay late.

Otherwise, I'd recommend you check the Newbury Guest House on Newbury Street in the Back Bay and the John Jeffries House on Charles Street at the foot of Beacon Hill.

That is the convention, Anonymous, and thanks for the information. I won't know for sure until our state covention next week but the hotels are way too expensive. Any other suggestions are very welcome!

Boston is an expensive town vis-à-vis lodging at any time-- and you won't get a lot of breaks during the Democratic National Convention. Without using Priceline, $90 a night will be almost impossible.

Having said that, the Newbury Guest House is a great B&B-style hotel in the Back Bay, although its rates start a little above your break point-- I just got $125 a night. IDEAL location, however, and close to the Hynes/ICA T stop.

A little B&B right around the corner from Berklee College is the Oasis Guest House. It ain't fancy (tiny rooms), but it's also well-located right off of Mass Ave. I don't know if they have A/C, but you can Google for their website and find out.

Hi LindaW-

There are quite a few B&B's in Brookline near Coolidge Corner (near where I used to live). It is a short T ride on the Green line to downtown. Don't know their availability but you can give them a try:

Beech Tree Inn - http://www.thebeechtreeinn.com/

Bertram Inn - http://www.bertraminn.com/

Samuel Seawall Inn - http://www.samuelsewallinn.com/

Longwood Inn - http://longwoodinn.boston.swbd.net/

Thank you rjw_lgb_ca, yk and chicgal. I have emailed several of your suggestions.

Any other options are appreciated.
