Boston airport hotel options
 

We are driving back from NE Sat night and flying out of Boston Sun early am. Does anyone have suggestions on where to stay near the airport? I found a Suburban Extended Stay in Winthrop which looks nice. But I need a place to park the rental car.

Are there other hotel options where I could return the car instead and take a short train-ride in?

Any suggestions will be most appreciated. thanks to all who take the time to reply.

Don't stay in Winthrop - you will surely get lost to/from airport. There is a Hilton right on airport grounds with covered walkway (longish walk) to terminals but also advertised 24-hour shuttle to all terminals. Also, airport shuttle bus stops there. You could even return the rental car Sat PM to save time in the AM if you wanted and save a few dollars on rental cost.

Perhaps you can try bidding for a 4* hotel for Logan Airport zone on Priceline? The only 4* hotels reported for that zone is the Hyatt Harborside and the Hilton Boston Airport. Both have shuttles to the T stop and airport, and probably have shuttles to the car rental place.

BTW, since you need just a Sat night stay, I assume you can get a good deal on Priceline because those airport hotels tend to have little business on weekends.

I agree that it would be better to drop the rental car off on Saturday and stay at a hotel at/near Logan with shuttle. It would be easier to drop off the car on Saturday than early morning ahead of your flight.

Note, however, that Priceline often blocks Saturday only stays/Saturday check-ins, so you might want to try your date on Hotwire, then see if you can identify the hotels with www.betterbidding.com before committing.

Note also that you MUST check with the hotel for shuttle schedules. Some may not leave early enough, depending on your departure time, and for some you MUST phone ahead of your stay and reserve space on the shuttle, so you don't assume you can hop on - only to be informed that all shuttles are full until XX:00.

Taxi fare would be reasonable (or you could take the T or water shuttle) from any downtown Boston hotel. But, depending on your date, rates may be very high during foliage season for a Saturday night and/or there may be minimum stay requirements. But, still, try Hotwire or Priceline, as there are many new hotels, and those in the Seaport area seem to come up no matter what because they are not that conveniently located for walking tourists - but they are very convenient for getting to Logan.

Thanks for all the good info. I checked Priceline and their quoted rates are $340 for Hilton and $450 for Hyatt. I will bid much lower and see if I get lucky.

Before bidding on Priceline, check recent winning bids on www.betterbidding.com and www.biddingfortravel.com and also check Hotwire offerings. Then, you can better determine a better starting bid, so you don't bid too high, or too low.

We often stay at the 4 points by Sheraton on a park and fly rate but it's cheaper still without parking

Do you mean *this* sat, sep 27? If so, the Logan Hilton is showing, on their own website, a king bed room for $179!

There is also an Embassey Suites just outside the airport as well as a Hampton Inn on Rt 1a Revere. Both have shuttles to the airport.

There are a couple of hotels that might work, but I would also agree that staying in Winthrop would take you way out of your way. The hotel you mentioned is on the far side of Winthrop by the water.

I'd suggest the Harborside Inn in Boston as a good idea, since there is a T stop right outside the hotel which will take you to Logan.

You can drop off the car and take a cab or the Blue Line T to the hotel, and have dinner at Fanuiel Hall which is right across the street.
