We are looking for a lunch spot in Cambridge and a place for dinner on Newbury St. Any suggestions? Thanks

Weekday or weekend?
Price range?
How many people?
Type of cuisine preference?
Hip or Family-Friendly or Romantic or Special Occasion etc?

Cambridge is a LARGE area, it'd be easier to make a suggestion if you tell us where in Cambridge, eg Kendall Sq near MIT, or Central Square, or Harvard Sq?

Does it have to be ON Newbury Street or it can be near Newbury Street?

Atlantic Fish Co. 761 Boylston St Ph. 617 267 4000
Excellent-near Newbury St.

La Voile is on Newbury street. It's classic French cooking. In fact the entire restaurant was imported from Cannes...the chef, the staff, the cookware. I've only been once, but I liked it very much.

but y2k is right...we'll give you better answers with more info. Especially the "where" in Cambridge, and what....quick lunch or relaxed? inexpensive or upscale?

We enjoy Henrietta's Table at the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square.

See http://www.henriettastable.com/

We second the recommendation for the Atlantic Fish Company on Boylston Street.

See http://www.atlanticfishco.com/

These restaurants feature local foods on their menus.

There are many other fine choices in both locations depending on your preferences for cuisine, ambience, price range, etc.

ok...we are staying at The Back Bay Hotel on Stuart St, so close to Newbury is fine. not outrageosly $$$$ just fun, hip, and a great people watching place.
As far as Cambridge we are just dring thru to see Haravard as we head to Lesington and Concord. Looking for a fun, lunch spot, quick place (not self serve).
Thanks

I think the best people watching spot on Newbury St is Sonsie. Has it been around too long to still be hip? I've only eaten there once or twice, but the food is very good.

I like Stephanie's on Newbury for brunch or lunch or dinner. Great people watching, and has outdoor seating. It's on the corner of Exeter Street and Newbury.

And I also highly recommend Atlantic Seafood on Boylston Street.

If you're looking for drinks, the bar at The Lenox Hotel ( can't remember the name?) is a very good place to go, too. Very popular, especially from Thursday-Sunday.

Russell House Tavern at Harvard Sq opened recently, and has gotten rave reviews. I would like to try it soon myself. Can't say if it's quick though.

If you want some place that's been around in Harvard Sq for a long time, you can always go to Mr. Bartley's for burgers. It's fast for sure.

I really don't care for the restaurants on Newbury Street; unless people-watching is your goal. If so, then go for Sonsie, or Stephanie's on Newbury.
