Boston
Hello.
My wife and I are traveling to Boston for 6 days on August. We want to stay at Boston for 3 days, and we want to visit some towns along the coast the other 3 days. For the latter we were thinking on going very early to Cape Code and Provincetown one day and spend the night somewhere near there. And the next day go north to the Maine coast (and spend the night maybe in Bar Harbor).
We are looking for good seafood, beautiful landscapes and oceanviews.
Can you help me with suggestions for best towns to visit? from so many options is so difficult: Ogunquit, Camden, Castine and Bar Harbor.
I would also appreciate help finding hotels, B&B, or Inns, that are nice, clean but not expensivier than $180 per night.
Thanks,
Manuel

Bar Harbor is 400 miles from Provincetown by road.
You should pick EITHER Cape Cod OR Maine for your beach time. At this point where you go might be determined by where you can find lodging. Many places on both the Cape and the Maine coast are often booked months in advance.

I agree with the above - driving from Cape Cod to Maine is a looong drive. You could easily spend an entire week in either spot - they are both fabulous. If you are going to Cape Cod, are you taking the ferry to Provincetown or driving? If you are driving, you could consider towns like Chatham, Falmouth, and Wellfleet, which are less of a drive, are quite scenic, and have nice beaches. Maine is also great, has a different feel than the Cape - colder water, more rockbound coast, but still some nice beaches.

I agree that trying to do the Cape and Maine is ambitious. You could drive north from Boston and stop on Cape Ann, visit Gloucester and Rockport or Ipswich and spend a half day at a beautiful beach like Good Harbor or wingaersheek (you can walk way out at low tide) and be halfway to Maine.

I agree with choosing one or the other. With only 3 days, and all the traffic in and out of Boston, and all the August crowds along the coast....you would end up spending way too much time on the road and not enough time on the shore. If you insist on both, don't go all the way to Provincetown and then all the way to Bar Harbor. Maybe Chatham/Hyannis and then Ogunquit/York.

just to pile on ...Bar Harbor is a 7 hour drive from Provincetown, and its rife with traffic issues. Plus its not very scenic.
If you really want 2 locations in your 3 days, pick 2 on the same side of boston...For example, Cape Cod and Newport RI might be doable. Or Rockport/Salem/Cape Ann and Ogunquit.
Also, recommend you arrange your trip so you spend the weekend in Boston and the mid-week time on the shore. Traffic will be better. And you will most likely find 2 night minimums in most shore hotels and inns, and are more likely to find availability mid week.
But generally I agree with above, the Cape has enough to fill 3 days.

Hello,
Can you share with me best restaurants for seafood near Capecod and Newport. I'm looking for crab, lobster and hear Dogfish is also great.
I'm looking for freshness and quality and not necessarily elegant.
Thanks

where on Cape Cod? its a pretty big place, more than an hour from Sandwich to Provincetown, and that's with no traffic. So whereabouts will you be? There are a ton of clamshacks and good seafood places, it makes no sense to recommend my favorite place in Eastham if you are staying in Falmouth.
