Boston - Pier Information

We are taking a cruise out of Boston on Sept 29th. We will be driving in and leaving our car at the Pier. On our return we are meeting some family and friends in the area after we disembark the ship. Can anyone tell me what attractions are near the pier and have any good places where we can meet and have a nice lunch. We would like to leave our car in the pier parking area while we do this so anything within walking distance or easy to reach public transportation would be helpful.
Thanks to everyone for their assistance.

You need to give us more info on just what pier you're talking about. I think most cruises leave from the Black Falcon Terminal which is located in a somewhat industrial area of the waterfront. Check with the cruise line on just where they suggest you leave your car as parking is scarce in this area. There is a garage across the street from Black Falcon, but not sure what their policy is on long-term parking. If you do find yourself in this area, you will be limited in dining choices although Jimmy's Harborside and Pier 4 are relatively close by. You may want to take a cab downtown for a wider variety of choices I strongly suggest you get the exact location of the parking garage in advance to avoid driving around in a panic on the day of your cruise. Have a great trip!

There are a couple of restaurants like the overpriced Pier Four, or Jimmy's, or the favoritetourist spot No Name..but I would recommend you take a taxi to the Quincy Market. There are many restaurants there and plenty of time to sit and talk. The covered garage is quite safe and I believe is still $10.00 a day..a bargain. At Quincy Market you could go to Durgin Park or take a chance and go to the North End for a lovely italian meal..Oh by the way..if your going on the Majesty please write....I have friends going on the same trip..we've been nine times and the last was the last week in May..

Sel de Terre on the warerfront is excellant and at quincy market you have Kingfish. But if you have never been to Boston before, sit at the bar at the oldest restaurant in BOston while they shuck your oysters the old union oyster house.

We just returnned from a New England cruise on 9/23. Since you are driving like we did, stop and get a map at the Mass Welcom Center. It has wonderful visuals on the map and even indicated the Black Falcon Terminal. They are the perfect place to ask up to date information.

We did not stay to tour Boston. So can't help you there. We drove in and out of town on a Saturday and found traffic to be quite pleasant.
