Boothbay Harbor...Need a good B&B!

We will be going to Boothbay Harbor on September 24 and we would really like a recommendation of a good Inn or B&B. <BR>Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Best of the Best is Balance Rock, but it may be completely booked by now. There are lots of wonderful B&B's in Bar Harbor - most of which are reviewed in the directory on this website. I've found the reviews here to be comprehensive and accurate.

A really lovely place is the Lawnmeer Inn (www.lawnmeerinn.com). It is located right on the water just outside of town. It also has a great dining room overlooking the water, which serves wonderful food. I stayed there in August of 1997 and thought it was very reasonably priced in addition to all its other charms. Its only disadvantage is that you can't walk to town, but it's a very short drive, and frankly, we were glad we weren't staying right in town because it was a little too touristy for our taste and we liked the peace and quiet of the Lawnmeer. I highly recommend it.

I second the recommendation for The Five Gables Inn. Stayed there last month for 2 nights. Very charming Inn and GREAT breakfast. Mike and Dee are terrific hosts! Also worth mentioning are The Ocean Point Inn, Ocean Gate and Lawnmeer.
