Boothbay Harbor & July weather
 

Hello!<BR><BR>My husband and I are taking our first trip to Maine and planning to stay in Boothbay for a few days over July 4th weekend. Looking for a simple hotel on the Harbor and was wondering if anyone has stayed at Brown's Wharf Inn or had any other suggestions. What is the weather like in July and has anyone ever been there during the 4th? <BR><BR>Thanks for the help!

What do you think about the Spruce Point Inn?

We have stayed at Browns Wharf and found it to be fine especially if you get a waterfront room.(great sunsets). The down side of Brown's is that it is on the opposite side of the harbor from the main part of the town of Boothbay Harbor thus it requires a moderate walk to get there for dining, shopping, etc.<BR>We have also stayed at the Tugboat Inn which is on the other side immediately adjacent to town, and couldn't be more convenient as you can park there, and walk to everything. Parking is a problem in Boothbay.<BR>Have not stayed at Spruce Point Inn but have seen it and it looks really nice and would be a great place to relax. It requires a car to get to town from there however as it is several miles out on the end of a peninsula.<BR>July weather is about as good as it gets.

Has anyone stayed at the Fisherman's Wharf? How is it for comfort and convenient to parking etc.

Here's another recommendation for the Tugboat Inn. (And, it's worth the extra for the &quot;queen corner&quot; rooms.) Because of its location, you have a more terrific view of the town (skyline) to one side and the ocean to the other. There's a fabulous cocktail lounge (with live entertainment) and a decent restaurant within. And, a free parking space comes with the room. You can walk all over, or take the trolley if you wish to explore farther. <BR><BR>The photos of the &quot;views&quot; at the Fisherman's Wharf website tell you all you need to know about the location.<BR><BR>In my opinion, Spruce Point Inn overhypes itself so that you're disappointed when you arrive. And, the pine needles all over drove us nearly mad.<BR><BR>As for the weather, it's usually very warm and sunny, but could be hot and humid, or chilly and/or rainy. You just never know.

We've been there the second week of July. Nice &amp; warm during the days. Light jackets or sweat shirts at night.We took a day trip on the Balmy Days II to Monhegan Island for a day trip. It has artist studios, beautiful scenery(165 foot cliffs), seals around the island, &amp; we even saw a whale on the way there. The food was good at the Lobster Co-op in Boothbay. The only complaint was that by 600pm, the town was closing up. They stated no summer help &amp; there wasn't much to do after dinner.Have fun.

Thank you all so much. I will check out both Brown's and Tugboat. In regards to the Tugboat, which building would you say is best for non-smokers? It looks like the rooms overlook the parking lot first and then the ocean. I can't really tell.

I have stayed at Spruce Point Inn and highly recommend it. It's beautiful and I know it's pricey,but I felt it was worth the money. We were there in July and the weather was beautiful - but definitely hotter than I expected.

We have stayed at Brown's a couple of times a year for many years so we obviously like it. While it is on the &quot;other&quot; side of the harbor, we prefer that because it is quieter. We enjoy the walk or you can hop on the free trolley which makes rounds every 20 min. or so. There is a decent restaurant in the hotel and they are next door to the Lobstermen's Co-op. Wherever you decide to stay, I would make reservations ASAP for a busy weekend like the 4th. I would bet that the better places are already pretty booked. Do take a harbor tour if going to Monhegan is too much for you. (That trip takes all day so if you only have a couple of days, I would save it for another time.) Boothbay is not known for its nightlife so, if you want that, keep it in mind. Enjoy.
