boothbay harbor accomdations?

Spending the last two nights of our Maine vacation in Boothbay Harbor. We prefer B&Bs and I'm looking for suggestions. So far considering Blue Heron as it is right on the harbor. Atlantic Ark looks nice, but can't find much written on it which makes me a little leery. Lastly Linekin Bay B&B looks great but it is in East Boothbay and don't know if it is better to be right in the harbor. Our last two nights we just want to relax, kick back, eat lobster have some drinks. A romantic accomodation wouldn't hurt either. All suggestions welcome. Thanks,
KathyH

Hi Kathy,

We stayed at the Spruce Point Inn in 1999... I checked their website sprucepointinn.com, and they've grown a bit, but still a lovely place in a great location. They are tucked away from "town" in a nice quite spot. We booked a jacuzzi cottage and loved it.

Have fun!

Consider staying at Laniken Bay B&B. It is slightly away from the crowds, but peaceful and gorgeous place. I stayed in Boothbay before but never again, Laniken bay is the best. Their website: lanikenbaybb.com. You will not be disappointed. The accommodations, gourmet breakfast, and the owner are great. We stayed with them every year. Enjoy....

Approx. how long a drive was it into town from both Spruce Point Inn and Linekin Bay B & B.

From Linikan Bay is about 5-10 min. Do not miss a lobster pound on the way to the Inn. Great food at a reasonable price.

Jump on Linekin Bay B&B if it is available. For kicking back, relaxing, eating lobster, right on the water with fabulous live music (especially on a Sunday afternoon) it doesn't get any better than Lobsterman's Wharf in East Boothbay.

For exceptionally romantic accomodations, check out Gables in East Boothbay. Or, Ocean Point in East Boothbay (with a variety of accomodations including country inn rooms, cottages...), where the sunsets are unforgettable (especially from their very nice dining room, even if you don't stay there).

If you want "touristy" restaurants/shopping, "right in the harbor" might be "better". But, if you want "romantic" and "peaceful" and "scenic", East Boothbay is heaven on earth.

Be advised that "can't find much written on it" can often be a very good thing, especially in Maine. Not everyone "gives up" hidden jewels on a public forum such as this one, lest they be overrun and the prices take a huge hike.

We prefer to stay in East Boothbay and spend a morning or afternoon in Boothbay Harbor.

But, if you'd prefer Boothbay Harbor, our favorite place to stay is the Tugboat Inn. Worth the extra for the Queen Corner room (for the spacious rooms and the views). Fabulous dining room and cocktail loung (with umbrellas set about the patio and terrific live music).
