Boothbay Harbor
I would like to stay on the water with my 80 something mother. I have been looking at Tugboat Inn and Brown's Wharf Inn. Any comments or suggestions?

I stayed in Boothbay Harbor last fall-I thought the Tug Boat Inn looked very interesting-great location in the heart of town. I stayed at the Spruce Point Inn-which was nice but a short distance from town center. Ate at the Lobster Dock and Lobsterman's Coop-both were great. ((h))

Either would be just fine. We prefer the Tugboat for it's views of the harbor (especially nice from the "queen corner" rooms in the Tugboat Pier section). There's a very nice patio for relaxing. And, there's a performer (mellow, not loud and crashing) in the comfortable cocktail lounge.
These properties are on opposite sides of the harbor. One of the advantages of staying right on the harbor is having a parking space and being able to walk all over. Brown's Wharf is about 1/2 mile farther walking to the "main street", restaurants and shops. The Lobster Dock is fantastic! |
Thank You so much for the info! Lscvna

If you want to be in town, the Tugboat Inn is good, as you don't have to find a parking place and it has some great views of the very active harbor. It isn't overly fancy but is certainly respectable. I've stayed there several times as well as at Brown's Wharf, twice and I would definitely choose the Tugboat. Tugboat has package plans which include a dinner in their restaurant and continental breakfasts. The restaurant is ok for one night if you don't want to walk anywhere.
The last time we ate at Brown's Wharf, the service was definitely wanting to the point of being non- existant. To be fair though, that was two years ago. |
