I can't find a copy of William Martin's "Cape Cod". I don't suppose any of you know anywhere that might track it down for me?

Now; music. We're pertty keen on traditional music, especially (at least in my case) songs. Anyone from Cape Cod we should buy and listen to?

For music, the big names are mostly from the Vineyard, like Carly Simon and others.

Another great band from the Vineyard, 'Entrain' is rapidly gaining national recognition, but they still perform some free and/or very reasonable concerts around the Cape Cod area during the Summer.

You might have heard them perform one of their more popular hits "Dancing in the Light" for a General Electric commercial on network television.

I love Entrain. I always think a trip to the Vineyard is never complete without seeing them. They put on a great live show.

Other mystery writers who write about the Boston area are charlotte McLeod and Janet Langton. Not really in the same genre/style as Parker and Linda Barnes, though.

Marge Piercy's Summer People is set on Cape Cod.

I thought of another when I was discussing books I had read recently. It's kind of a stretch for Cape Cod but there is a tie-in. Erik Larson's Thunderstruck is about Marconi and the invention of the wireless and the Crippen murder. There is a museum about Marconi's wireless in Wellfleet and the historical society there has more information.

The Outermost House is one of my all time favorite books. I was delighted to see so many fans here. Definitely get it, Sheila. Oh, and stop for a milkshake or a sundae at Four Seas in Hyannis.

For well written crime, I recommend the Brady Coyne series by William G. Tapply. Coyne is an attorney, so you should feel right at home; but he prefers fishing to working, and his clients keep getting killed.

Tapply also has written two books featuring Stoney Calhoun, a Maine fisherman who has lost his memory from a lightning srike but who seems to know how to solve murders. The brand new one is called <i>Grey Ghost</i>.

Many paperbacks are $6.99. You may find $5.99 or $7.99 but not higher unless you buy trade paperbacks--much nicer but not necessary for read-on-vacation books.

By the way, I packed so many PBs in a stack in my check-through luggage once that my local airport opened the suitcase upon check in to see what the &quot;dense black box&quot; was. Now I scatter them out.

We always read a few different Cape Cod books when we do our Eastham vacation thing. We are rather spoiled because we have come to depend on the B+B where we stay for all of our books. If you stay at the Fort Hill B+B in the National Seashore you can come &quot;bookless&quot; and have enough reading to last a lifetime! If you stay someplace else, inquire if they provide books to read while you are there.

I loved Anita Diamont's &quot;Good Harbor Beach&quot;. Granted, it's not Cape Cod, it's the other cape in Massachusetts, Cape Ann. It's set in Gloucester and Rockport.

William Martins' books are great, all of them. Cape Cod included.

If there's a get-together, I would like to come too.
