Booking Vegas Hotels...Now or later??
Hi
We are due to arrive in Las Vegas on Sunday May 3rd at the start of a two week road trip. I need to book a hotel to stay for a couple of nights at the beginning of our stay and then another night (or maybe two) at the end of our trip. I am looking for some advice on whether we should book it now or wait until even nearer the time. Do prices come down that much? Is there any benefit in calling the hotels direct or should I use one of the many websites that offer hotels in Vegas? (We're from the UK) Also, I can't make up my mind which hotel to stay in...is the Bellagio really that good or are the other 4&5* hotels just as good?? The Trump hotel has some very good rates - does anyone know what this hotel is like?? Appreciate your help |
Rates won't change much in two weeks time....if you were booking 6 months ahead I would tell you to be sure and book something changeable/cancellable without penalty in case rates go down. All the 4 and 5 star hotels are great, you won't be in the room much for a one-or-two night stay anyway. Sorry but I haven't been to the Trump but can't imagine it wouldn't be fine.

I've been monitoring rates for a mid-May trip and while they've been offering some great bargains this year, it seems rates have taken a small uptick recently, so I'd book now.
|
Yah with Vegas, rates will only go up closer to the date of your arrival...they don't come down much anymore so I would say book it now :)

I would go ahead & book. I am not familiar w/a Trump property there, but you will want to be near the middle of the Strip if you've not been there before. The Bellage would work fine or I kind of like Paris from a location standpoint.

2 weeks out..book it now.
Some great 5* hotel rates right now.. Wynn which is one of my fav's is around $100..gorgeous hotel and the restaurants are fab. Bellagio is lovely hotel too..what are there rates? Encore, Palazzo and Trump are pretty competitive.. I always go to Expedia to get an idea on price then I go direct to see what there prices and usually they match it along with a credit for restaurants or gambling credit. Keep in mind that new in Vegas is key. You can do 2 nights at the Wynn and the back end of your trip either the Bellagio or Encore for the remainder.. Have fun! www.wynnlasvegas.com |
Thanks very much for your advice, I am looking at the hotels now. I don't see Wynn for $100 but would definately go for that....which is the best website for these rates?
Does anyone have any opinions on MGM Grand? I can get two nights for $150 which I think it pretty good but are there better hotels for this price? Thanks again! |
Not very helpful to you, I know, in terms of price. Just wanted to say that our stay at Bellagio last fall was just wonderful. We had a room overlooking the fountains. Staff was very friendly, the room and bath were large and very comfortable, restaurants good, and of course the location was unbeatable.
There were 3 of us splitting the tab, so that had a lot to do with it. Good luck, and have a great trip. |

Hi, I've stayed at the Trump, in January '09, and with a really good rate, it's a steal. Its (regular) rooms will be much, much nicer than the Bellagio's. However, its not a casino hotel, and doesn't offer all the restaurants, service etc. that Bellagio does, and doesn't have the central location. The service also isn't that of a 5 star hotel, it's slightly understaffed due to the economy, though the rooms are definitely 5 star. It's an easy walk to the Wynn, and to the strip, depends on if you mind walking or not, and what kind of shape you're in...I'm late 40's and don't mind a bit of walking.

Wow... thanks guys! I am so grateful for all your advice! I think I have narrowed it down to two hotels for various reasons.... MGM Grand & New York New York. They both have pretty much the same deals at really good prices with 'additionals' too but I would appreciate your thoughts on which hotel would get your vote. One thing in particular which I would be interested in knowing is how smokey the public areas are?
Thanks again for all your help. |
MGM and NY NY are right across the strip from each other and there is a sky walk between them. Both are going to have some smoke in the common areas and it will be thicker when there is high occupancy, like on weekends. That said, IMO MGM is a little nicer than NY NY.

If I had to pick one, it'd be the MGM. I like the casino better.

me too, mgm, not to mention that the one i sent you was for the signature junior suite which means it has a separate living room area from the bedroom. Very nice! Did you check out the floor plan? I say MGM.
We'll be there ahead of you (April 26 to May 3) and staying in Ceasar's Palace but I that's for a conference. Room's not as nice as the signature (looks to be anyway) and the price isn't as nice either but I the meetings will be at CP. |
