Where to Stop Enroute from New York City to Chicago?

Leaving tomorrow for a road trip, most arrangements up in the air. Can anyone suggest a stopping point, I guess in western PA or Ohio, where we could spend the night and get a decent meal?

Thanks -- FD

I have ideas for Pittsburgh or Cleveland (I liked both) but I'm thinking you probably want to avoid central areas of such major cities (as they may possibly add time to your journey) and want something easy off the highway. Correct if this an incorrect supposition.

You're right -- just hoping there might be a place with more than chain restaurants. I think stopping in a major city would slow us down too much. Thanks.

Stop at Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Waters in western Pennsylvania. A google search will tell you all you need to know about this magnificent site.

Youngstown, OH-a mile or so before you get on the Ohio Turnpike.
Some good places at the Clearfield, PA exit for lunch.

Howard -- We've been to Falling Waters and agree it is magnificent -- a little south of this itinerary though (we'll be on I-80). We do expect to see many Wright houses in Oak Park.

tom -- Will look out for your suggestions.

Thanks all -- FD

You'll love Oak Park. And, of course, make sure you save time for the Art Institute of Chicago, one my all-time favorites.
