Booking for New York shows from Dec 23 to Dec 27
As part of our trip to the Us, we will be visiting New York from the 23 of Dec to the 27th of December.
Does anyone have any suggestions for shows to see?. How would I go about booki ng from Australia? Any other tips would be welcolmed. thanks . Donna |
I was just in New York and saw Bring in 'Da Noise Bring in 'Da Funk and it was excellent. I would also recommend Chicago or The Scarlet Pimpernel. All are very good. As far as making reservations, the internet is a great source. Go to Culture Finder on the Web and it lists all the shows, the theaters that hold them and the prices. It also gives 800#'s to call to get reservations. I'd call ASAP to get reservations because they sell out quickly. Have fun and enjoy the States!

Go to the webpage "www.playbill.com/" There you
will find lists of broadway shows and a couple of links to sites where you can purchase tickets through the Internet. We did this and received our tickets in the mail a couple of weeks later. Shows may be sold out at this point for December, but try anyway. I'd recommend Rent, Chicago, Phantom, Les Miserables. |
Sorry, I don't think you will get Rent or Chicago. They are sold out for months. Phantom and Les Mis, maybe. Scarlett Pimpernel was great. Don't bother with Triump of Love. Beauty and the Beast is fantastic, but also hard to get tickets because the kids are off from school. Other good choices would be Sideshow, King and I, or 1776. All are showy musicals and are a guaranteed good time.

You can order most theater tickets on the Internet at either Ticketmaster.com or Telecharge.com. Both of these sites tell you the exact location of the available seats and have seating charts of the theaters.
Most shows are sold out for December already. The old stand-bys like Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera probably have some seats left. You should definitely try to see the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. There web site is radiocity.com and you can buy tickets at the Ticketmaster.com site. |
If you are alone, it will be easier. I spent Christmas in NY as a spur moment, no plan. I saw 3 broadway shows, the Radio City show, an opera at the Lincoln Center, Matisse exhibition... by buying tickets from people whom families/friends couldnot make it at the last minute. The tickets are 25-75%25 off the face value. I had a ball and it was one of my most memorable Christmas.
It would be much harder had I had a companion. |
I just returned from New York, having visited December 11-16th. I agree with the person above suggesting the Christmas Show at Radio City Music Hall. It was fantastic. I also saw Rent, Cats, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Miss Saigon. Rent and Miss Saigon were excellent.
Don't forget to visit the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center and the Skating Rink at Central Park. I've always heard about them at Christmas time, but until you are there to see them in person at this time of year, you have no idea how special it is to see them at this time of year. Enjoy the City. |
