i never asked for an upgrade but recently got one with a priceline reservation. we just lucked out, they upgraded us from a standard hotel room to a 3 bedroom townhouse (we're a fmaily of 4) in Scottsdale! in any case, i suppose it can't hurt to try.

OK I am going to bite. I love priceline, have always gotten good rooms. When I arrive at the hotel if I need a difeerent room, I ask.
The hotels have been accommodating if not totally booked.
For more input for your question, you will have better luck posting on biddingfortravel.com PJ

Just try it. It's not like they're going to put you in prison for asking.

We always ask when we get there after pre-paying through priceline and hotwire. Usually they'll say one is available but ask us to pay the upgraded price. I think it's the difference between the room you purchased, but priced at the regular published rate, and the upgraded room at the regular published rate. We recently did this for the Hyatt in Vancouver and received a concierge level room with a view for $17 extra a night. We though it was a good deal for the price we paid.
