BOOK SHOP CHICAGO

http://www.shift.jp.org/guide/chicag...olden-age.html

One of the best shops for anyone looking for great artist made books and experimental music. A recommended stop for anyone stopping by Chicago!

Its in a cool neighborhood called Pislen, which is a designated art district just west of the southloop and chinatown.

Anyone else have good Art Book shop recommendations in Chicago or the Midwest in general?

I'm pretty sure the neighborhood is Pilsen. Pilsen has changed greatly in the last 10 years.

And I thought about it a minute, and I don't get this post- except maybe as advertising. But I am a patsy, I guess, so I just have to ask. Why the rec of this one bookshop in Pilsen? I'm really curious. Pilsen has a few blocks I wouldn't walk through, others I would. 16th & Racine has been the site of at least 10 or 20 gangfights under the viaducts. 24th & Oakley end is better. Crime rate is not a purple letter, if you know what that is. If you are Hispanic or Mexican and speak fluent Spanish, you will have a MUCH easier time of it. Most of the restaurants are accepting, but not all.

For book shops, there are lots and lots of areas that have more. And Printers' Row- southward side of downtown is the place for numerous good ones.

JJ5, I think your suspicions are valid. This is Jabar's first and only post!

I never check. But don't want people traipsing around areas that aren't fully described.
