ho-hum

and again bronxzilla deletes political descussions while Betty Crockers enjoy recipe swaps. There always is the "other" message section, as this bread isn't restricted to the US.

Heck, 50 years ago it wasn't the U.S.

Life ain't fair!

Aah, rb!!! Bless your heart ... go get some bananas and bake some bread. It'll sweeten you right up,and make you smile! :p

go for a bicycle ride.

It's travel; and will do wonders for your life.

Bonnie

I tried your recipe, but it didn't turn out too good.

Was I supposed to peel the bananas before I mashed them?

Actually, my birthday is coming soon and I've asked my daughter to make banana bread for me using your recipe.

You can also half this recipe and it will come out great! I used three small-medium bananas and halved the remainder of the ingredients for one loaf pan of yumminess. Thanks, Bonniebroad!

My son and I are baking your bread tonight so that we will have something yummy to eat on the plane. We leave in a couple of days for our VA/DC trip. It smells great - can't wait to taste it.

crazy4Hawaii, you are most welcome! Glad you enjoyed it. :-)

Dusty, you are too funny! :-d Has your daughter made the bread for you yet?

Holly, hope will enjoy your bread on the plane ... Sure beats those airline offerings! :D Let me know what you think!

The bread is very tasty, Bonniebroad. I made half with nuts and half without so that I can take some with us and leave the other loaf for the rest to enjoy while we're gone. It made the perfect breakfast for me to enjoy this morning while I pack. Many thanks:).

Bonniebroad

She did make it for me. It was great. Had some three days in a row.

Shalott Nov 17th, 2005 06:13 AM

Can you also share your cream cheese frosting recipe?
I haven't found the perfect one yet, some are way too sweet, some are too liquid and the frosting doesn't stay put.

bonniebroad Nov 17th, 2005 07:14 AM

Shalott, I don't really "frost" my banana bread. I just spread whipped cream cheese on a slice of it sometimes. This one is so moist you really don't need anything else ... but the cream cheese does taste yummy with it! :-)

OldSouthernBelle Nov 18th, 2005 06:40 AM

Shalott: Cream cheese frosting is usually just cream cheese, sugar (or Splenda ;-) ) and alittle vanilla, water or milk (very small amounts). You can experiment with the amount of sweetener to your own taste!

Some variations also blend in a container of cool whip, which is the one I prefer on my bluebery stack cake, but don't think I'd want it on the BB. I think the one that goes on carrot cake would be preferable on BB.

For years, I have 'halved' the amount of sugar with either Equal (not any more!) or, more recently, Splenda. No one can tell the difference!

Bon appetit!

Belle

I'm topping this because the world's a sweeter place with the famous Bonniebroad's Hawaiian Banana bread recipe.

I was also checking to see if I had BB's email address from way back when - and we were talking about kennels in her state. I don't. But if she happens to read this, I hope she will email me at starrsvillega at yahoo. ;)
