Have a great time, Scarlett! From "See"

Statia Sep 16th, 2004 09:17 AM

Have fun, Scarlett! I'm sure you are glad to be getting away from JAX for a bit with the recent "plywood stress." :)

kimamom Sep 16th, 2004 10:07 AM

Scarlett, have a wonderful trip! Take lots of pictures, do a LOT of shopping, eat well, have fun!!!

I hope you're able to make it over to the coast, it's beautful this time of year. IF you go to Cannon Beach, check out Cafe Mango for their halibut and yummy grilled veggies. Drink lot of Pinots! Raptor Ridge makes a great Pinot Gris and also Paschal makes a very nice one. Oregon is Pinot country! Cheers!!! ***kim*** :)

Go, Scarlett! Along with her Yankee and her Pup! Have a great time! :)

GoTravel Sep 16th, 2004 10:30 AM

Scarlett, Bon Voyage!

Are you and the Yankee taking the pup pup? LOL! I guess he's getting his own seat?

(If I'm not mistaken, pup is a standard poodle and could not fly in the plane with Scarlett and the Yankee)

Scarlett,
Have a terrific time! I have never been to Portland, OR. Will you give a trip report?

Enjoy!
Anne

Awww how kind, how sweet! Thank you Mimi and all my FodorFriends :D

We are leaving Mon for 10 days in Portland Oregon. Pup is staying here with my daughter. He will be spoiled shamelessly and will never know I left.

I plan on drinking plenty of Pinot Noir, trying many restaurants..sigh..10 days of eating in restaurants :)
Kim, thanks for your help, I have so many lists from you and beachbum and mms and others who have been so helpful..

Our passports came in today- a good omen, next trip ... ?

There might be a trip report if I can make it interesting..I will take notes and plan to do something worth writing about :D

Now if we can just skip the hurricanes on take off and come back to the End of that season which I can live without!!

Have a fun trip, Scarlett. Haven't been to the Pacific Northwest yet, but it's real high on my list! I'll bet the seafood and wine will be wonderful.....

Kal Sep 16th, 2004 12:00 PM

:-? I'll check the Doppler to see if there is an inordinate amount of steam coming from the P'land area down into NorCal.
Safe travels!
MUWAH :* MUWAH :* (I'm so intercontinental sometimes)

beachbum Sep 16th, 2004 12:01 PM

Sincere wishes for a great stay in Portland, Scarlett.

And, yes, Oregon is pinot country; my wallet just wishes we weren't so proud of it. If you see it anywhere, try a Brick House pinot; one of the few that IMO justifies the price.

Meanwhile.... at Hotel du Danube, Paris..... any wine recommendations?

I used to spend summers with my grandma in Portland. Lot's of fond memories. Too bad I was too young to enjoy 'eating my way through'! Have a great trip!

Jocelyn_P Sep 16th, 2004 12:21 PM

Have a great time Scarlett! I'll bet a change of scenery will be very refreshing.

I'll be offline for a few weeks (going to Colorado to visit family, then moving into our new house) but I'll be thinking of you all!

annesherrod Sep 16th, 2004 12:46 PM

JoycelynP - Have a great time on your trip. too!!! We will miss you as well.

And good luck with the move. Is it in the same town or across country?
Anne

Thanks anne! We (me, DH, two preschoolers ((Z)) ((X)) and two dogs ((&)) ((&)) ) moved from San Diego to Tulsa in May. We're building a house here and have been living in an apartment for the past 4 months, waiting (not so) patiently. We're finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. ((Y))
