I did a search and found a few hotel recommendations, but the posts were a little old. I was wondering if it is better to stay downtown or if the airport area is ok. Can the Boise experts help me out? I appreciate all comments.

I went to Boise last year for the first time and couldn't find much help on this board, so good luck! We had a child with us, so we wanted to make sure we had an indoor or heated pool, so we stayed at a chain near the airport. Downtown is only about 5-7 minutes away from the airport hotels, so it won't make much of a difference, time-wise.

If we hadn't had a child with us we definitely would've stayed at the Anniversary Inn. If you do a search on Boise here it should come up, along with the website.

I enjoyed Boise very much and hope to visit again. We spent some time in the human rights memorial and the greenway that runs along the river in town. We also had some good meals and enjoyed touring the old penitentiary.

We liked the InnSuites hotels. We stayed in the one by the interstate. Clean and very nice.

I'm not an expert by any means since I've only spent one night in Boise, but I would definitely stay downtown. We loved Boise - it's a great town. There are plenty of name brand hotels downtown and I would just choose one of those. Ours was great but I'm sorry to say that I don't remember the name.

Im from Boise and depending if your just needing a nights sleep the hotels by the airport are fine. If you decide to stay alittle while downtown is good. I have to agree with others, just go with a chain hotel, there really isnt a super great hotel like a ritz carlton or anything like that. I love Boise and if you need further info please let me know.

Thanks Rese. Is the Courtyard By Marriott in a good location? Which hotel near the airport is best or which downtown? I don't mind chains. I am a budget traveler, but want it to be half-way nice. Thanks.

I see SpringHill Suites is opening in May. Anyone know about tnis location on North Cloverdale near Hewlett Packard? The website says it's close to the airport and downtown.

How funny, I consider HP far from the airport and from downtown, but Im sure it would be nice. As for the marriott, I hate to say it, but I cant think where its at. I think Ameri-Tel is a nice hotel, there are 2 locations, one off the freeway (about 2-3 miles from the airport) near our Edwards 21 Theaters and there are alot of restaurants to chose from. The other is also about 3-4 miles from the airport and off the freeway by our TownSquare Mall which also has many restaurants. As for downtown, The Bank of America Center (cant think of the hotel name thats inside) is nice and its close to everything too. Let me know if I can help further.

On SHS's website, they say they are 13 miles from the airport and I think that is far too. What about the Shilo Inn airport location? Is that nice? I've not stayed at a Shilo Inn, but I think ejcrowe said on her post from last year that they stayed there. I will look at the web page for the Ameri-Tel next.

One more thing, how about the Residence Inn location? They are also a Marriott property. Thanks!

Ya know, Im realizing there are alot of new hotels/motels that have been built in the last few years so my guess is just to go with a newer one. Sorry that Im no help but I think any one of them would be alright and are close to downtown (4-5 miles) I do know a quaint bed and breakfast place if your interested, its called Heritage Inn, nice big victorian kind of looking house. Just blocks from downtown. Hope you have a good time.

Thanks for the help. I decided to do the Courtyard By Marriott. Got a great rate that I can't pass up. Also, the woman at the desk said it's a 5 minute walk to town, so I guess I'll find out when I get there.
