Bohicket Sailboat

Hello fellow travelers, has anyone ever rented Catalina sailboat from Bohicket?

Thanks

What size are you renting? Anything under 32 feet is too small to go out in the ocean in and anything over 20 is too large to sail in the backcountry.

Our waters are shallow.

Thanks for info gotravel; we will have car; i believe it is a 22" sailboat, perhaps we should on a waer tour first before heading out on our own.

If you can, try and get out one day on the water in a whaler or something similar. That way you can see for yourself the huge fluctuation in water levels between high tide and low tide.

Also, it is just so beautiful. I think it would really be a highlite of your trip.

The 22 is a great boat for the low country. It's a centerboard so you can pull up if you need. Just watch the rudder.

Yes but if you pull up the centerboard, you take the chance of flipping the boat. In some places, the bottom is covered in barnacle covered oyster shells.

I know this first hand from stepping on a barnacle covered oysterbed with tennis shoes on. It was razor sharp, cut through my tennis shoe and through my foot. I ended up with 67 stitches and off my foot for 8 weeks.
