Bobby Flay's Tour of NYC

He may live in Chelsea but he welcomes a trek up to the Upper East side to visit a childhood haunt for a late night burger...

See what else Chef Flay has to say about his hometown...

Has anyone dined at any of his restaurants?

It's been a few years but we loved our brunch at Mesa Grill. I'm surprised how often, though, I see really negative comments about the place.
We've eaten at Bar Americain a couple times and really like it. That's a favorite space of ours -- we always liked it as Juudson Grill before that. One time, however, our entire meal was accompanied by Bobby Flay's rear end practically on our table and in our faces. The couple next to us were old time friends he hadn't seen in years and he stood wedged between our tables and talked with them most of the night. About five times he turned around and apologized for his "back", but he still remained there. It was actually more funny than irritating. How many people get the personal touch of Bobby Flay's butt on their table at one of his restaurants?

I've only had a drink at Bar Americain; it felt pretty swank. Lovely space if you like tall ceilings and modern design..

I really like seeing chefs out on the floor...that's crazy that he was there for such a long time.

It was hard not to eavesdrop. I think it was a college roommate or maybe even high school friend. Bobby Flay hadn't seen them since being in their wedding many years before. It was a major reunion going on.

At Bar Americain after theatre, I always think we'll just order a few of the wonderful side dishes to share instead of regular dinners, but somehow we always end up ordering full regular meals. There's a lot on the menu to like.

My last meal at the Mesa Grill was downright awful. The Chile Relleno was like a bad jalepeno popper and that wasn't even the worst meal at the table. Good Margaritas, though.

I had an amazing meal at Mesa Grill in the Bahamas - I would recommend it and would like to try to dine at the one in Vegas (I think there is one there). There were 4 of us and everyone's meal was fantastic.

I haven't been to Mesa Grill in years, but ate at Bar Americain about a year ago for a private party. I thought they did a lovely job of a fixed menu for about 35 ppl.

Four of us dined at Mesa Grill in Las Vegas last year. Everything we ordered was delicious! I would definitely return.

We have at Mesa Grill a few times and each dish had a distinctive taste. His Bolo, however, is a clueless establishment. The dishes were not Spanish and they lacked flavor whatever they were.

I dined at Mesa Grill in Las Vegas and it was one of the best meals I've had in my life! Everyone's food looked wonderful; I only regretted I couldn't order everything on the menu. The prickly pear margarita was to die for!

My husband, son, and I ate at Mesa Grill in NYC. The food was delicious and we enjoyed our experience. I would say it was the typical "small portion, high price" type of meal. However, it was well prepared and presented. I would list it as a place I would return to, but not as a must-do...

We love Bar Americain for drinks. It's one of the nicest restaurants we've ever patronized. It's also fabulous, as Patrick mentioned, for ordering this or that - especially when you've had a late lunch or want only a light dinner. The aromas are intoxicating and it's not too loud.
