Boaters~ ~ ~ Where do you boat and which place to stay away from?
We are avid boaters and love to visit different places by boat. We live in Upstate NY - Lake Ontario - We have been discussing about going on an extensive boat trip. Any suggestions as to where to go and which places to stay away from. We have already done the Canadian trips. We also have talked a Florida trip. This takes about three weeks.
We do have a live on board boat, so Marnia's and Yacht Clubs will be our hub. We are not into mooring or anchoring.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

Carol - We live in near Rochester (Sodus Bay, NY) We have taken the trip to Florida. It took us over six weeks to get there. We did have boat problems in New York City and we were delayed a couple of days. We did everything in our power to stay away from the ocean and used the canal systems and intercoastal. It was an unbelievable trip and cost us $20,000. That includes, eating out, marina fees, gas, occasional play when stranded in New York City, lost a little money in Atlantic City and had to get the vessel fixed. Very, very expensive - We stayed near Ft. Meyers, took the boat to Captiva and Marco Island.
At the end of the winter we had the boat transported back. Are you prepared for many crisis's? Good Luck

Carol-Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio. They have the most roller coasters in the country. Anyway, they have a beautiful marina with swimming pool and access to the park and water park. Sandusky also has a very nice yacht club with a great Sunday brunch...

Carol-You could go down to Lake Erie, stop at Erie, PA, on to Cleveland, visit the Flats, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on to Sandusky and the Lake Erie Islands, Leamington, Ontario to Detroit, up the Detroit River through Lake St. Clair and up to Georgian Bay, hit Mackinaw on your way back. Or, if you are real ambitious go down the west side of Michigan to Chicago.
