Boardwall Hotel in Las Vegas

I found a great deal for mid-week mid-May 3 night stay at Boardwalk. Its in their 4 story building, not the tower: $114 including tax. Looks like the Boardwalk is centrally located and a 3* hotel. All I am concern about is location, convenience and cleanliness of the place. No time for enjoying luxuries of 4* and 5* hotels. We plan to see and explore the strip to a maximum - no gambling. I already booked "O" and Dion and a air tour to Canyon. Will I be sorry that I booked Boardwalk?

Go read their review of the Boardwalk and decide for yourself...

You couldn't pay me to stay there but it's probably the cheapest room you'll get center strip. If stuck to that budget, I'd rather stay downtown and take the bus to the strip or rent a car. Check Imperial Palace, it's a dump too but I think it's a notch up from the Boardwalk.

Thanks Christie and Loki: I did read the review. That is why I booked it. Seems OK, motel-like. But Loki says its a real dump. In what way - dirty and stinky, or just no frills? Last time in Vegas I staid at Mirage. Nice hotel, but room is a room: bad, beth, etc. I am not planning to STAY at Boardwalk. Just come back for a night to sleep. So, my concern is: Is it clean? Is it convenient?

I'd have a really hard time seeing how someone could possibly justify that hotel as a 3star. That only way it could possibly make sense is on a scale that goes to 10.

I've never stayed but from walking in the casino (then quickly walking out) the place is a dump. About the only thing in its favor is the location.

I'd be really surprised if you couldn't find a room at a nicer hotel, like say the Monte Carlo or Barbary Coast for the same.

As suggested, check the review on www.cheapovegas.com

I would consider it dirty but I keep my place extremely clean. By dirty, I mean, mold and soap scum in the shower like where the fixtures and the caulk are. I'm a stickler for a clean bathroom. I wouldn't want to even think about what the bed looks like under a blacklight, though I'm sure that would be a shocker at even some higher end places. Don't be bamboozled by the "3* rating". This place is on par with Motel 6, but you probably will not find anything on the strip for cheaper.

The last time I stayed in The Boardwalk was about 8 or 9 years ago and it was ok. At the time it was clean. The last time I stayed in Imperial Palace was 18 years ago and it was an absolute dump then.
I got a flyer the other day from the Mirage for rooms for $79 mid week and $99 on weekends. Don't remember which promo to ask for, but do remember it included the month of May up until the 31st. Check their website...they may have some special promos on there. Also, I noticed where someone got the new Westin for $40 on priceline....although not on the strip, it is a convenient location.

Anyone who can say with a straight face "a room is a room" has his/her mind made up. I don't feel that way. There are ROOMS and then there are rooms. I DO care about my surroundings. Since you've made it clear you don't care about yours, what's the question? By all means stay there, since you've already said clearly you don't care what a room is like.
By the way, when you come back, please post and tell us (again with a straight face) that the room was the same as one at Mirage -- since a room is a room, as you put it.

We gambled at the Boardwalk last week - the selling point was tables with a $3 minimum. It was a great way for us to learn to play craps. Great location - wouldn't stay there. Definitely not a 4*, closer to 2* judging form the lobby and casino.

Thanks to everyone. I canceled my reservation at Boardwalk and booked Monte Carlo. Your posts and Cheapovegas convinced me.
