Blue Ridge Parkway - Hotel Suggestion Close to the Middle?

We're going to be driving from Asheville, NC to Harper's Ferry, WV in a few weeks as part of a larger road trip. We're spending Monday night in Asheville and Wednesday night in Harper's Ferry, and looking for a nice place to stop over on Tuesday night. We are hoping to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway at least part of the way (I know it's 40-45mph and slow going), and would really love to spend the night somewhere scenic right off the parkway. Any suggestions that would put us roughly in the middle? The hotel suggestions I've found online are either too close to NC or too close to Shenandoah, and we are hoping to drive about halfway.

By the way, this is a practical road trip (cross-country move). We would love to spend more time exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway but can't do it this time, so will just settle for a taste.

Some place around Roanoke would be about the middle, I only know mainly typical chain hotels around there or Staunton, etc.

You could try the Natural Bridge Historic Hotel which is just off I81

Near Roanoke there's Peaks of Otter, where you can stay actually on the Parkway. Beautiful location. The food wasn't very good the last time I was there but it was a few years back.

If you're looking for non-chain motel type lodging, the Virginia.org site is a good option. You'll just need to know a bit of Virginia geography to select by region, but they have a lot of options beyond your typical hotels. Blue Ridge Highlands, Shenandoah Valley, Central Virginia and Virginia Mountains will be the 4 regions, but you'll then need to know which locations are close to your route.

I like the Stonewall Jackson Hotel in Staunton, Va. very much, although I am not looking at a map so not sure if this is the right location for you. But Staunton is a lovely small town with some great food options and the hotel is an old-fashioned treasure, with an indoor pool. Very reasonable rates and right in the center of town.

Staunton is a little further than halfway, Roanoke or Lexington would be closer the halfway. If you want to make it to Staunton the first day then Stonewall Jackson is a great option if you don't mind spending a little more money and coming off the Parkway about 30 min into town. If you just want a place to stop over Waynesboro is closer to the Parkway. Peaks of Otter near Roanoke is on the Parkway. Lexington has a pretty downtown area as well and is about 20 min off the Parkway. If you want something fun to do that night Lexington has a drive in movie theater.

Nice to see some love for my area--Staunton is probably too far along. The Blue Ridge Parkway ends and Shenandoah NP begins in Waynesboro, VA (which is just a very short way from Staunton). So you are more than half way at that point.

Peaks of Otter would be a good bet.

If you want to go all the way to Staunton I have many suggestions for activities. I would certainly choose the Stonewall Jackson for a hotel there.
