Blue Man Group
Leaving for Vegas this weekend, considering seeing the Blue Man Group. First question are they worth the $95/each ticket? Also the only seating left is in the Upper Mezz.. Will I still be able to see anything from that high up?? Any info is appreciated.
|
I think they are worth $95/ticket but that's just my opinion. You should be able to see from the top - you just won't get any 'residue' as those in the poncho section will. Don't want to spoil it for you but there is a good chance of audience participation throughout.
|
I agree with cmeyer54, yes they are worth the $95 and the "view from the top" should be fine.
Enjoy!!!! |
Geez, those ticket prices keep climbing. Worth $95? Only if I had already seen Mystere, O, and Mama Mia.
|
We thought the tickets in Boston were high at $40. The Boston theater was small which insured that even people in the back row (i.e. me) were involved in the action. Audience participation is real key to their act.
My husband didn't care for the show partly because it reminded him of our son's next door neighbor best friend who used to provide us with lots of free entertainment only he wasn't painted blue and he played the guitar. |
Worth $95 -- I vote no.
We saw Blue Man Group in Dallas last year. Tickets were in the $30-40 range. We bought ours off eBay for $60+. The show was fun and entertaining, but not worth what we paid. Saw Mystere in Vegas 4 years ago. Seems like the tickets were around $95 then, and I felt I got my money's worth. I would go see Mystere again for that price. |
An additional thought: you can go to www.blueman.com and watch video clips from Blue Man Group performances. That's what made me want to see them in the first place, but I still think $95 is too much, especially for not-so-good seats.

Would Blue Man Group be appropriate for a 10 yr. old girl to see? We were going to see either O or Mystere but they will be dark the days we are there. So trying to find an alternative and she didn't want to see a Magic Show. Any other suggestions please.
|
Generally speaking, I would expect her to like BMG more than the Cirque shows.
|
I know several 10 year old boys & girls who LOVED Blue Man Group in New York and Vegas.
Also, I can really recommend the Lance Burton Show at the Monte Carlo for kids - he brings kids in the audience up on stage to participate, the show is very funny (for kids & adults) and the stagecraft is great. I think even if she thinks she won't like a magic show - she'll like Lance Burton . My 9 year old loved it. |
Kids really seem to like BMG. The loud, throbbing music is enthralling, and it's intended to be humorous.
Personally I was left bored after a half hour. I would not go again if the tickets were $15...really. BMG was on Jay leno last night and I just shook my head afterward that they can get $95 a ticket and sell so many seats. I'm not sure what others are seeing which makes them recommend this show at that price. |
I shake my head when Celine Dion gets $200 per ticket or when anyone tunes in to the Oprah show. I find the Blue Men much more talented and entertaining.

There never has been nor will be a show that comes close to the concept and intellect of Blue Man Group.BMG,like Vegas is something everyone should experience once. I vote "yes".
|
LOL Loki, I'm with you on that one.
RELATIVE to Celine Dion or Oprah, I'd spend eternity watching BMG. |
I have to say, I got free tix for the Blue Man Group here in Boston. I went, and I really didn't like it. After about 20 minutes, you get the picture and you've seen it all. I was bored.
However, many people rave about it. I know people who love it. It obviously appeals to many people when you look at how long the show has been running. I lived in Chicago in '98 and it was showing there back then. FYI: I think the show is fine for kids and I think they'd probably enjoy it. It's a popular show, just not my cup of tea. |
"Tunataco" Nice screen name. Suffice it to say you are a George Carlin fan,and Male I hope.

just returned from Vegas, and saw Blue Man Group. Everybody was disappointed. We thought it was definitely not worth the $95. People in the front looked like they had more fun than we did toward the back, but I still regret paying all that $ ... the show was just kinda shallow...

"Message: There never has been nor will be a show that comes close to the concept and intellect of Blue Man Group."
Intellect? I'm still trying to interpret the above post. Were you being sarcastic, Doc? |
We saw BMG in New York with our son and daughter when they were 12 and 9 and it was great. My husband and I enjoyed it but they LOVED it.
|
Patrick: I certainly appreciate the intellect of BMG. I am quite impressed that they've been able to parlay their ability to drum on plastic pipes and squirt paint at each other while convincing people to pay literally millions of dollars to watch them do it.
Those guys (the originals) are SMART, no doubt about it! |
