Blue line -or- Airport Express shuttle from O'Hare to downtown?

I'll be arriving at O'Hare this evening and need to find my way to the Peninsula hotel downtown. My two options (unless a taxi is worth the money?) is to take the Blue line and transfer to a bus, or to pay for an airport express shuttle that drops me off at the hotel. Does anyone have experience with one or the other?

Blue line!Unless you are arriving after 8pm it will take you forever with the shuttle.

Actually, my flight arrives just before 8, so I'll be getting on the shuttle shortly after the hour. So shuttle then maybe?

You can get to your hotel using the blue line... take the blue line to Clark and Lake stop. you then need to walk east on Lake to Lake and State Red line stop. Take the red line up to the Chicago ave. stop. Walk east on Chicago to Rush st. and then south on Rush to Superior. go to www.transitchicago.com and you can print out or view the system map to get a better idea. Good luck!

Also if you pull up google maps, type in the address of the hotel, the area transit stops will appear on the map as well.

I would agree with taking the blue line. But I'd grab a taxi at Clark and Lake station.

Good idea with the taxi!

I think the blue line is under construction and does not go all the way into downtown Chicago.

The blue line is open I took it from downtown out to ohare on Sunday.

Last weekend was the exception to Blue Line construction. For much of the summer, it has been closed in various spots from about 10 pm Friday evening through about 5 am Monday.

When service is suspended, shuttle buses replace the trains. Closures are usually announced on Wednesday or Thursday for the upcoming weekend on the CTA site.

If you want to take the train all the way to your hotel, Don't exit at Clark/Lake. You'll have to exit the system, then re-enter and deal with turnstiles, etc. At the Jackson Stop, there is a direct connection between the Blue and Red Lines with elevators.

In addition to a cab, another option would be taking the Blue Line to Chicago Avenue, then taking the Number 66 bus eastbound to Rush. The Chicago station on the Blue Line has only stairs so if you'll have lots of luggage, this may not be a good alternative.
