Blue Bell Inn

As a child I lived in Blue Bell, PA. I vaguely remember a nice restaurant called the Blue Bell Inn. I know the Inn is still there. I will be in Philly on business next month. Can anyone tell me if it is worth the drive out from Philly to have dinner there.

I am topping for you. I live near Philadelphia but have not been to the Blue Bell Inn in 15 years. My sense is that it hasn't changed much since you were a child - shrimp coctail and prime rib. With so many good restaurants in Philadelphia, I wouldn't think that the drive would be worth it. You could try posting on chowhounds.com. You will probably get a response there.

Blue Bell Inn is still serving reliably good American-fare dinners. The place is usually crowded with regulars.

There certainly are much better restaurants in Philly, but if you want nostalgia (and it seems you do), then it is good enough to be worth the trip.

BBI gets 20 from Zagat's, and William Penn gets 21.

If you go, please return to this thread with a short report of your experience, so others can benefit from it. Thanks.

Blue Bell Inn has the same menu for decades. The restaurant hasn't changed with exception of decor. If you are feeling nostalgic, you will have a nice lunch or dinner. Restaurant is closed Sunday/Monday. Weekend dinner reservations are still suggested. I do agree with other posters, i.e., there are better restaurant choices.
