Blue Angels in Seattle

The Blue Angels have a performance scheduled while we are in Seattle (staying near Lake Union) next month. Where is a good location that is accessible by walking or public transportation for viewing the show? We plan to drop off a rental car in Seattle on Thursday. I noticed that the Blue Angels practice that day and wonder if there are any potential traffic issues we should be aware of in advance. Thanks for any input.

They are here a few days before the big show soaring around the skies and terrorizing family pets. We just look up when we hear a big noise, and there they are. You will find more information here: http://www.seafair.com/

LOL - perhaps no predictable traffic issues... but the teenager driving in front of you will probably take his attention off the road as he looks at the airplanes out the side window.

If it were me wanting to view the show... I think I'd simply not do anything special in an attempt to be somewhere I wasn't otherwise going to be.

They tend to find us when we're merely going about our everyday life.

(though it makes sense that the routes for both practice and the show would be centered around the Hydroplane course)

The Blue Angels could get from there to Tacoma in 3 minutes, so, y'know, don't spend too much time plotting your position (though maybe some faraway spot on Lake Washington Blvd... well away from the Hydros and the crowd, yet with a decent view looking east from the lake shore)

Shrug...

The I-90 floating bridge shuts down during performances because the big show takes place over Lake Washington. If you want to be in the action, you could take a bus to the lake--such as #2, which will dump you out right on the shore of the lake next Madrona Park: http://metro.kingcounty.gov/cftempla...oute=2&I1=Find

Yikes, I forgot about teenage & other distracted drivers! I think we'll try to arrive before practice starts.

Thanks for the suggestions and bus info. Normally, we'd go about our normal sightseeing, but since there will be two teenage boys with us, walking around with their eyes toward the sky, it might be less frustrating to just find a viewing spot.

You can see them from all many different places. I live on Capitol Hill and all I have to do is look UP when I hear the roar!
