Black bear lodge or Peak to peak
I want to stay at one of these
Black Bear Loge Grand Lake CO or Peak to Peak Estes Park CO. |
You have several posts about this. What is your overall plan for visiting Colorado. What do you want to do while staying at these places.
I and wife is driving from denver - cheyenne - estes park - moab -bluff- gallup - abq this summer. but havent deceided were to stay at some places so i want some suggestions
Do I have this right? You are driving from Denver north to Estes Park and Cheyenne before heading west to Moab and then south to Alb? Very round-about. Why Cheyenne? Anyway, to answer the direct question, I would Choose Grand Lake. I am not a fan of Estes Park and like the small town and lake feel of Grand Lake.
I havent been to WY or Nebraska so just a short visit there before we are heading west.
The Trip is goin to be like this:
Denver - Chyenne - Estes Park/Grand Lake - Glenwood Springs/Rifle/Grand Junction - Moab - Bluff - Gallup - Albuquerque |
Is Cheyenne not a nice place? Do they have an attitude and are they cheating at hotels and stores?
There is nothing wrong with Cheyenne or its residents, but unless there is something specific that you want to see or do in Cheyenne it really is out of your way and not worth the trip just to visit Wyoming. Save Wyoming for another trip and then focus on Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone NP.

I know that there is a amazing scenic road somwhere around cody and yellowstone. And Devils tower look really cool at least on pictures.
Anyway i and wife are goin to stay in Grand Lake and Grand Junction (cool name on a city atleast for a Swede).
Devil's Tower is really cool, but it's a long way from Cheyenne, out in the middle of nowhere (unless you're going to Mt. Rushmore, SD). I'd skip Cheyenne. It's a small city and there's not much there. The only really cool part of Wyoming is Yellowstone, and that's a 7-8 hour drive from Denver.

The Beartooth Highway is the scenic road you mentioned. Gorgeous!!!
I think adding Grand Lake after Estes park is a good call. You'll drive Trail Ridge Road (I'm assuming in the summer) through Rocky Mountain Park. The scenery will be fantastic! http://www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisi...ridge_road.htm The drive between Denver and Cheyenne is boring and not scenic. |
