Birthday of Significance - Activity / Breakfast with a View

We will be in NYC in April for my husband's 40th Birthday. It will be a Thursday. We have the evening covered - he is very excited about seeing a Yankees game and I think he has visions of a big hotdog and beer in his mind. However, I want to make the whole day memorable for him and so I was thinking of breakfast or lunch somewhere special, maybe with a view. Following breakfast or lunch, some type of activity - maybe Central Park, maybe some other type of adventure that you could suggest, but something to burn off all the delicious calories we will have consumed over breakfast or lunch.

We will be staying in Greenwich Village and our only limitation is that the game starts at 7pm, so we will need to be heading out to the stadium in plenty of time. Apart from that, we really have the whole day with no other plans.

Your suggestions to make his birthday of significance one to remember would be greatly appreciated.

A little pricey, but you'd certainly have a view... and be near Central Park. You could zip up from the West Village on the subway.

What about Le Coucou for breakfast?http://www.lecoucou.com/#about

Another option for lunch with a view: Riverpark http://www.riverparknyc.com/

The Boat House in Central Park is a great special event boathouse - and would give plenty of time to enjoy a lot of sights an activities n the park. Go to the official web site to check what ranger walks there might be - often fascinating. And look at boating on the lake as well as exploring a lot of different part of the park.

nytraveler, have you had any experience with the current Tavern on the Green?
If The Boat House wasn't doable it might be a good alternative.

Lunch at Robert might be a nice celebration. It is accessible from west side subways and across from Central Park.

ToG is a disaster. A very pretty place at the right time of year but April, depending on what part may be starting to green up or it may be too early. The food ranges from mediocre to awful based on the 3 times we've been there (special request by an out of town guest) and the service is very uneven.

I wouldn't voluntarily go if you paid me.

nyt... I suspected as much. Thanks for the update. Haven't been to the Boat House in ages... glad to hear it's still special.
