birthday dinner for 12yr old oahu
We will be celebrating our son's 12th birthday whilst staying at Turtle Bay in October. Any suggestions for a family friendly restaurant in the area ? We are going to Polynesian Cultural Centre day before so something within an average budget would be good !

If you want to take a drive south toward Honolulu, no 12 y.o. could resist this water park:

I love Haleiwa Joe's, which would be pretty convenient and was definitely inexpensive. Oh -- and SO SO SO GOOD. It wouldn't be a fancy or "special" meal, but it's a fun place with a nice view over a harbor!

If you want to go in to Waikiki, my grandson loves Cheeseburgers in Paradise.

Dave & Busters -- food, fun, and lots of games (pinball, etc.) for him AND you! :-)
It's just off Ala Moana Boulevard, on Auhahi Street; open 11am to beyond midnight. |
Thanks so much for the suggestions ! Haleiwa Joe's sounds like the birthday venue. We will do Waimea Falls Park and the Hawaiian Waters Park over a few days............followed by dinner at Dave and Busters as we have 2 nights in Waikiki before we fly home. Oh to be 12 again! I think the 15 year old will also approve. So much to do !We leave Oz in 2 weeks so the count down is on and final planning under way. Fodorites certainly have been a huge help .
