Birmingham restaurants

I will be in Birmingham this weekend for golf. I've searched Yelp, Trip Advisor, and Fodor's for restaurant suggestions, but they are all over the place. Some reviews are also quite old. My hotel is in Hoover but I will have a car so transportation to restaurants will not be a problem. I'd like a place that is nice, high quality food and service - American, French, Italian are all fine. I appreciate any suggestions.

Frank Stitt brought French cuisine to Birmingham and has at least 4 restaurants there. The flagship is Highlands Grill and you will have an absolutely outstanding dinner there. His bistro style resto is nearby--can't call the name.

That sounds a lot better than the last meal I ate in Birmingham - breakfast at the Waffle House.

Well, you can't go to Ollie's Barbecue, the most famous former restaurant in Birmingham . . .
