Biltmore Estate - Asheville, NC

Hello Fodorites -

Planning another family trip with an 11 & 12 year old. Considering the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. possible time periods are next weekend (Feb 12 & 13) or late March (22 - 24). Driving from Philadelphia. So a couple of questions.....is it better to go in February or March. Keep in mind the March date will coincide with spring break. Is it an OK time of year to visit or will we be trapped in our overpriced room? We have been to some of the mansions in Newport, RI and found them interesting. Not sure what other activities are available in Asheville for February/March - we do not plan to ski. Also if we want to break up the drive what would you suggest for an overnight stop along the way. Thanks in advance.

Wait until March. Plan on stopping at Natural Bridge VA if you are taking I-81. Natural Bridge is worth seeing at least once in your life.

Valentine's Day in Asheville is wonderful. Nex weekend would be good. No reason to wait until March. Wait until April if you want to see spring flowers.

>>Wait until March.<<

Why? Do you have a reason? I try not to visit anywhere during Spring Break if I can help it. I've time I've visited the Biltmore twice and once was in Feb - and it was just fine.
