Biloxi Condo

Hi,
I want to spend some thime in Biloxi, MS. I am looking for a condo for my family (husband, wife, and 2 teens). From what I have found so far all the condo's are listed as accross the highway from beach. What I want to know is how far is the hotel. What do they mean by accress the highway. Is it walking distance.

Thanks for your help,
Kathy

Mostly I would say the beach starts right across the highway, but it is kind of wide and moderately far to the water. Just a fact of life where the beach side is mostly free of building development, and the slope of the beach is shallow. The road can be somewhat busy and take a while to cross (4 lanes?).

You ask how far is the hotel...which hotel are you talking about?

In Biloxi, there is the beach, then there is the highway, then there is everything else. So, if your condo is across the highway from the beach, you're definitely within walking distance! Hope you like Biloxi! The casinos have some GREAT shows, and the food is sooooo good!

Just a small caveat about Biloxi beaches...they're not all that great. The casinos, however, are lots of fun and there are casino shows that might interest your teens. If you really want a beach vacation, you should probably go into Florida or try the Alabama coast, Orange Beach in particular.

I agree about the beaches in Biloxi. HOWEVER, if you are going to Biloxi for other reasons as well (history, museums, gambling, golf, etc.), just take the ferry out to Ship Island for a great day at the beach. Nice, clean sand and beautiful blue water out there. Bring a cooler with lunch or get lunch at the little general store on the island. (Don't pack too much gear though, because you have to lug it a ways.)

if you go to Ship Island, bring LOTS of sun screen! Had the worst sunburn of my life there!

Ship Island is a great beach venue; don't forget that New Orleans is just about an hour and a half away--perfect for a day trip. If you're a gambler, there are plenty of casinos. Beau Rivage and Grand Casino are the biggest. Lots of shows and entertainment all week long. Also, the towns of Ocean Springs and Bay St. Louis are very "artsy" and provide great places for just browsing. This is a beautiful time of year on the Coast.
