biking beaches?
My husband and I just spend 5 days in Hilton Head. What we loves most was how easy it was to bike all over town, and expecially the beach--flat, wide, safe. We are looking for another similar experience. Has anyone been to another town/beach where it was so easy to bike?

I love biking the approximately 20 mile bike path along highway 30A between Destin and Panama City Beach in the FL panhandle. It goes through Watercolor, Seaside, Rosemary and all the quaint "Beaches of South Walton" communities. And if you want to get off the bike path all the beach communities are very bicycle friendly.

Look at Coronado in San Diego.

I am LOL because this is posted in the New Mexico folder! We have a lot of sand, especially in southern NM, but I don't think you want to bike there. ;-)

You probably know this but Kiawah Island has wonderful beaches to ride on at low tide and the resort itself has great areas to ride around.

Fort Myers Beach, Florida, is about 7 miles long and is popular with cyclists. You could cycle from the town along Estero Boulevard to Bonita Springs.

thanks for the great suggestions--we'll definitely have to try them out.

Padre Island, TX has biking on the beach. The sand was very hard and easy biking. The only downside when we did this (Nov.) was we had a great ride north (actually, cars drive on the beach, too, and it is really wide....people drive out and fish everywhere!), but we had a really stiff headwind returning. Just one warning, don't go at Spring break time. We went in November and we had a lot of the beach to ourself!
