Biking and camping
My girlfriend and I are planing our first trip in May and would love to bike around one of the islands and camp for 3-4 days. We're experienced campers from CO but need advice on where to rent bikes (probably hybrids with panniers), where to camp, heck even which island/route would be best for this. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Technically, Australia is an island. You can start at Sydney and peddle north and do some canoeing around the Great Barrier Reef.

Nantucket, MA. is a romantic place with nice beaches and the delightful town Sconset. It can be pricey...I don't know about camping. There is a 4 wheel drive only beach which is really nice. This is not what I consider a major biking challenge...it's more leisure-fun biking. You need to make ferry reservations in advance during the summer...I'm not sure about may. You will also be taking a chance on the weather at that time of year. If you're lucky it could be beautiful, or it could rain for three days and be cold.
We have visited many of the Carribean Islands and don't know of any where biking is good.

My two cousins (brothers) biked the loop around Nova Scotia and loved the experience.

Dan,
Which islands are you referring to when you write that you want to, "bike around one of the islands"? I'll bet that you are thinking about the Hawaiian Islands, but maybe not.

Sri Lanka (Ceylon when I was there) was a nice island. Had trouble walking around the ox carts and elephants, but there was a great seaside park.
