Bike Tours in New England
Looking for recommendations of a bicycle touring company who specializes in New England trips. This is during July, 5 nights, all inclusive. Also interested in Finger Lakes region of New York

Once company I know of is America By Bike (www.abbike.com), but I don't know if they'll have NE trips at that time. (FULL DISCLOSURE: I know the owner), but what I will better recommend is going the the League of American Bicyclists website ( http://www.bikeleague.org ) or Adventure Cycling Association ( http://www.adventurecycling.org/ ) where you will find links to various touring companys, clubs, and not-for-profit organizations. If you are a reasonably competent cyclist you might find tours being hosted by bicycle clubs with VERY reasonable prices, but by no means a lot of hand-holding etc. Often with camping or staying at hostels or motels, rather than Inns and B&Bs.

Find Finger Lakes & other NY info at http://www.nybc.net/

Thank you for your two ideas, but they're really for MAINLY cycling. As this is a birthday gift to myself, I hoping for the B&B/Inn route.

Here's a link to the home page of VBT. If you plug in United States, July, and 2003 in the left column, it brings up a screen that includes two tours of Vermont:

http://www.vbt.com/

Hope this helps!

VBT is more or less the "grand-daddy" of touring companies in the Northeast. I know of many people who have taken one of their tours and I've never heard a bad word about them.

I'm sure you'll find links to similar companies as VBT on the bikeleague.org website ... I wanted you to find the full spectrum of tours - from primitive to pampered. Enjoy!

POMG! Stands for Peace of Mind Guaranteed. They are awesome! I did the 100/200 ride with them. (The lenght of VT along route 100). They do trips mainly in VT. They are really accomodating and knowledgeable.
