Bike tour in Napa - best time to go?

Hi everyone

Since I have just got back from the last adventure, clearly it is time to start plotting the next one. What will it be? Not sure yet... but a few ideas have been thrown my way and I'm exploring options.

Given a choice, would you choose September or October for a 6 day biking tour of Napa, and if so, early Sept, early Oct, later in the month, etc?

I'm mostly interested in having a pleasant riding experience - i.e. avoiding heat and humidity - and I've no idea if Napa cools down by September or if it's best to put it off until late October.

Thank you!

Put it off until late October. Most of the weather sites can give you average temperature and rainfall figures.

Thanks! What might I be "giving up" by going later in the season versus earlier?

A stop in San Francisco is a definite, either coming or going.

What humidity?? Even if it is warm, it will not be humid. If it is cool, it might be a bit humid because of onshore breezes from the Pacific -- but it would still only be in the high-20's% range. Humidity is not an issue. Heat can be in early Sept.

I'd go a bit earlier rather than too late. Either month would be fine. I'd choose mid-Sept to mid-Oct. Early Autumn is the BEST weather in SF and close to the best weather in the Napa area.

We've ridden in this several times and don't recall extreme heat?

And it's a tour, not a road race.
Nice BBQ/party/music afterwards and the all important sag wagon!
