Bike rentals this weekend
I will be in Denver this weekend through next week. I know the weather has been great. We will be spending the morning at the zoo. I understand there is a nice bike path around there near the REI? Are there any bike rental place nearby as I don't want to be concerned with having to lock up the bikes? If there is a better place for a relatively easy and scenic type ride, we would be up for that too. I am not stuck to Denver proper. We are staying in Sheraton West Lakewood but we will be at the zoo in the morning.

The Mary Carter greenway past REI is the back bone of the 500 plus miles of trails in the Denver area. REI sits at the confluence of Cherry Creek and the South Platte River. You can take the greenway all the way to Chatfield dam (20 miles) - all up hill or the other direction to Commerce City. All the way there are dozen of other trails branching off. You can make it to Golden up Bear Creek. Take Cherry Creek all the way to the dam. All trails are well marked and paved. I believe REI rents bikes. Check with them. REI will sells trail maps. There are also other bike rentals in the downtown area.

Thanks so much. I actually checked with REI first. I will google bike shops in that area unless someone has a shop to suggest that they like.

Got to remember that locals don't rent bikes. We do have a bike sharing program in Denver - blue cruiser. I think a one day pass is $5, first half hour is free, 2nd half hour is a $1 after that it gets expensive in a hurry. The idea is point to point transportation and not a daily rental. Great for sightseeing in Denver and getting around.

Goggle Bike Rental Denver City
Unfortunately it looks like only one rental shop in Denver and that is on the southside of the downtown area. It is within a couple blocks of the Cherry Creek path which would take you to REI and the Platte valley trail. I guess bike rental is not a big business in Denver. |
Interesting. Everyone already has them!!
