Can be rainy, give yourself more than one day for optimum opportunity:

There really isn't any way to tell. If it rains, it probably wont rain non-stop all day, but it could. Often a rainy day is periods of showers and heavy rain with general drizzilyness in between. Or sometimes the rain will be intermitent. You just don't know until the weather is here. March is generally nicer in that it is warmer and the wild flowers are blooming - but it can still be rainy. We get rain off and on from November to April most years.

In December we will go as far North as piedra blancas elephant seal rookery then head back South. Its usually windy, somewhat cold, drizzly or rain. Occasionally sunny. Guaranteed to be one of those. The one thing you can count on, you won't be able to drive the full length this year. If it rains hard, turn back.

Our typical winter weather pattern(if such a thing exists anymore) can be a few days of rain followed by a few clear days. So no one can predict what the weather will be in any given period of time. If you are here for a few days, it may rain everyday, or it could be sunny everyday. If you will be here for more than a few days you can play it by ear, like many of us who live here do. If not Luck of the draw.
