Big Sur Tent Cabins
I would love to get opnions about Fernwood versus Big Sur Campgrounds.
http://www.fernwoodbigsur.com http://www.bigsurcamp.com/tent-cabins.html We are looking for a tent cabin for myself, husband and pooch. Fernwood is $45 and Big Sur Campgrounds are $95. Are Big Sur Campgrounds really that much nicer? We are going off season and the weather should be high 60's but I do not think we will take advantage of any swimming activities. So my 2 questions are: 1. Why is Big Sur Campgrounds twice as much as Fernwood? 2. Which one do you prefer and why? Thank you |

I would love, love, love to stay at one of the Yurts but we are traveling with our stinky mutt, and tree bones does not alow them. :)

I will respond to my own questions, in case anyone else wonders.
We stayed at Fernwood last weekend and also went to Big Sur Camp to check it out. Fernwood Pro¡¦s Great for young people Bar and live music on the weekends Price Allows dogs Right on the river Fernwood Con¡¦s Lots of young people ƒº Was loud well into the night Very bare bones accommodations Tent cabins right on top of each other Fernwood would be great for young people looking for a fun-party time. There is usually live music and you can fit several individuals in the tent cabins. Big Sur Camp seemed much nicer. Their tent cabin was equipped with a queen bed, candles, matches, bedding and towels. Big Sur camp also has cabins which are adorable! I would definitely stay in one of that next time. What I do not understand is why all accommodations are so close together? Especially at Fernwood. We were 10 feet away from our neighbors. That would probably be tons of fun if you were a group of kids. Couples and families would be way better of at Big Sur Camp. I know there are a lot of camp grounds to choose from. We only looked at these two since we were travelling with our pooch. |
I believe the reason why they are placed together is because of the "facilities" problem. California is very much into saving the environment and the more spread out these camps are, the more of the natural environment is "destroyed".
Could be very wrong on this, but that'll be my guess. |
Sorry, hit "post" too soon.
Meant to thank you for coming back and giving us a report on the difference. :) |
