Big Sky to Gardiner, Montana -- Interesting Excursion Ideas?
I'll spare you the details, I've posted those previously. But...I'm looking for ideas on what to do on our trip from Big Sky, MT, to Gardiner, MT (before a trip to YNP and GTNP). As part of a 2+ week vacation, this is the second half.
We'll be starting out (from a hotel) in Big Sky, MT, and have the next night in Gardiner, MT., before a week's vacation in Yellowstone. We plan to stop in Bozeman for some groceries, but still have plenty of time in the day. We had thought to do a horseback ride, but they are all booked for pack trips) or a "paddle and saddle" (but it leaves at 11am (Flying Pig Outfitters, Gardiner), and we don't feel like rushing. So - somewhere between Big Sky and Gardiner (or Memmoth), any ideas? Thinking about a 1-2 hour horseback ride (we have 1 person who can't do longer due to knee problems). Maybe short hikes, museums, those short horseback rides,or ?. Also, one of us (2 couples) has a real thing about wanting to get into the water, so if he can get close to a river or stream and get his feet wet, it would make his day. Whattaya think? |
Also -- how scenic is the drive from Livingston to Montana? My DH is talking about Electric Peak. Any worthwhile hikes there that we can cover in a couple of hours?
