Big Island Hotels With Great Pools

Planning a trip summer of 2003 that includes the Big Island and first choice was the Hilton that was completely sold out. As a result, I'm exploring similar hotel but main focus is the great pools. Any recommendations on the Big Island for a hotel with a grander than average pool? Thanks

I think the four seasons has a very nice pool. I haven't actually seen it but I think if you asked people if they have stayed recently, they would confirm this. The web site only describes it but doesn't show detailed photos. Also, the pool at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott (formerly Outrigger) has an o.k. pool (small decorative waterfall and big waterslide, all free form)and the nice thing about this smaller hotel is that it is toward the more affordable side and is one of the few Waikoloa hotels that are actually "on" the beach. Good luck, happy swimming

Just returned from Four Seasons Hualalai on Saturday and it was fabulous. The primary adult pool, Beach Tree, is bathed in sun all day and you are accommodated with cold towels, ices, and cold ice water. As well, they help you with chairs, umbrellas, cabanas, etc. and will hold your lounges from 11AM - 2PM while you go for lunch. It is rectangular, very nicely tiled, and relatively quiet.

The other larger pool, Seashell, geared towards families, is also lovely with fantastic service and a beautiful view. They even made a section with sand and toys for little ones so they feel like they are at the beach. It looked lovely and refreshing though we stayed at Beach Tree.

In addition, they have another small pool in the Palm Grove section and snorkeling available at King's Pond (where you can feed the stingrays). In my opinion, you can't go wrong with the Four Seasons' pools but you may want to hear the opinion of others who have more than the Four Seasons experience to share.

Enjoy + good luck! :)

We went to the stingray feeding last month. I wanted to jump in the pool with them but we weren't staying there. I would love to stay there soon. I wouldn't say the swim pool is anywhere near the Hilton's huge area though.

You're going to Hawaii and you're worried about a pool? Hawaii has one the best swimming pools and it's called the Pacific Ocean. Anyway, sorry to be so crass.
