BETTE MIDLER SHOW LAS VEGAS

Has anyone seen Bette Midler's show in Las Vegas? (Or has it even opened yet?) Just curious to see a review. Any other shows not to miss?
thanks!

Isn't Cher going to have a show in Las Vegas sometime soon, if not already?

tom42 Mar 4th, 2008 10:48 AM

Cher starts in May at Caesar's Palace, along with Bette Midler and Elton John. She will be doing 65 shows per year for the next 3 years. I think Elton does about 50 shows a year.

We have friends who flew out specifically to see that show. They loved it but they are die-hard Midler fans so just about anything she does gets them excited.

Here's a link for the NY Times review; sorry if you'd prefer to read about it in a conservative newspaper.

Was Jetset going to see her? I remember her posting here.

We will be in Vegas this July (I know it will be HOT) and we already got tickets to see Bette. I can't wait!

The Times review just about used every superlative known to man to describe it!!

There was a review in today's Chicago and LA Tribunes where she comments about Elton John and Cher playing during her breaks.

I went to lunch last week with a friend who saw it the week before and she loved it. She said there really isn't a bad seat in the house.

My mom saw it and said it was the highlight of her weekend in Vegas. She LOVED it, raved all about it.

I've seen her three or four times - not this show - but she is the ultimate entertainer - and way more natural than Barbra or the Canadian whose name I can never remember who was just there for five years... sorry...

She's a natural and doesn't she look great for 62?

Just read the Chicago article and am wondering where I can find which months she will be there this fall. Any suggestions?

I believe at www.harrahs.com website you can look into her schedule quite far into the future to see what dates are available.

schmerl Mar 5th, 2008 12:19 PM

Dates are listed here:

We're just back from Vegas, where we saw Bette. (I took my mother for her birthday.) I'm not a big Bette fan and thought the show was great. She is very funny. My mother, who is a huge fan, thought it was beyond fabulous.

I tried the sites given by the previous posters but the dates didn't go beyond mid July. I'd hate to book a flight and hotel and find out she wasn't performing that week.

schmerl Mar 6th, 2008 12:32 PM

This link gives the schedule through August. That's as far as I can find it. You could always call Caesars.

If your objective is to see Bette, then you should probably wait until the later dates are announced before booking your trip. As stated earlier, Bette, Cher and Elton are all scheduled in that theatre throughout the year. I think Bette is scheduled for 100 shows.

The LA Times recently gave her a less-than-stellar review:

We saw the show last Wednesday.

Magnificent! In every way!

The addition of the 30 dancing girls is fantastic.

The Colosseum at Caesar's is an amazing venue - huge stage (tall, deep, wide) with incredible sets, staging, lighting. (We also saw her at Radio City, not quite as amazing production-wise.)

No close-up screens, so if you go and have concert binoculars, bring them along.

I took the recommendation for seats "farther back" and "as close to center as you can get" - ours were about 1/3 up the center rear orchester and were excellent. Too close and you'll be looking up and won't have as good a view of the full stage.

Take care if planning dinner reservations after. The show is supposed to run 7:30-9, but start was delayed due to late arrivals, so did not end until 9:25. And, the taxi queue was miles long.

You should check out www.thetripgeek.com, a travel research and planning service. They can help you research all the shows and entertainment you could ever want while in Vegas, not to mention great restaurants, shopping and much more. Vegas is a specialty of theirs. Check out the site, it is totally worth it!
