Our paths crossed and this fearless girl is doing the one armed surf! Saw her catch a couple dozen waves at Hanalei...uses her foot to paddle...amazing!!! Her spirit has much to teach all of us!

aloha gyppielou!
I've seen pics of her surfing since the attack but that's amazing you saw the real thing! wow So did you take that lesson? I stood up on my first wave in Hanalei Bay last May and now I'm planning a trip back to Hawaii for more surfing thrills. Be warned, it's highly addictive! |
Bogart, don't bogart that wave! Sooo wonderful to have someone respond to this old post. Never caught a wave, we were hanging as it was the calmest water and pretty busy, and a Sunday - didn't want to be a tourist in other peoples waves - well just as we were making our way to the car - I nearly walked right into darling Bethany as she told her mom she was all set and didn't need help, she and a friend went to the end of the peir and jumped in. We followed and hung with locals watching her and everyone and cheering them all on. We loved watching a guy and his dog surf. What is amazing is that we watched a girl surfing and hanging with her friends, having fun, and doing the best she could, under the circumstance. What I saw was a young woman comfortable in her skin, just on month after losing an arm.....AMAZING!!!!
