Bethany Beach versus Rehobeth in Delaware? Can anyone compare?

I'd highly suggest Rehoboth or Ocean City, MD. Much more for children to do. Bethany seems to be way too quiet and boring for children, ideal for adults. If you stay at Dewey I've heard that there is a trolley that can take you up to Rehoboth inexpensively. Parking in Rehoboth is nearly impossible if you don't arrive very early and if you aren't able to feed the parking meter every few hours.

Just a note about Rehoboth Beach being gay. I don't see it, I haven't even witnessed public displays from any gay people while visiting the place over the past 5 years.

Cindy - I lived in PA and MD for a number of years and went to Rehobeth, Lewes, OC and Bethany as a teen/young adult and then as an adult. I think you may be able to glean an accurate picture of all the aforementioned from the post-ers. Lewes is quiet it is not actually on the ocean so there are no big waves but you can get the ferry to Cape May from there which might be a fun day trip. Bethany was always just the beach and houses - nothing much to do. Rehobeth is definitely a town w/ boardwalk, mini golf, amusements, restaurants etc and OC is high rises on the beach w/ much more traffic, boardwalk, amusements - more similar to Myrtle Beach. The jellies are hard to predict though I do remember so vicious undertows at Rehobeth so you might have to be careful w/ young kids.

For anyone going to Rehoboth for the beach, be aware that it's all but disappeared. Check http://www.rehobothbeachcam.com/ And the recent downtown street realignment has brought traffic to a virtual gridlock.

Lewes continues to be a true delight, though it lacks a boardwalk and much that is of interest to kids.

With kids, I'd have to reluctantly give the nod to Ocean City MD. Or, indeed, look at the Jersey shore.

Don't you just admire those people who very willingly purchase the goods and services that gay people sell and applaud the entertaiunment they offer in the media, etc., and THEN they decide they "hate" them AFTER they "find out" they are gay?

Sounds like a Dick Cheney daughter moment to me.
