Bethany Beach/Dewey Beach vacation rentals

Hello!

I spent some time last night on here researching a nice family vacation place on a nice beach and feel that Bethany, Rehoboth, or Dewey Beach would be nice places to visit. Thanks to all who took the time to give opinions and reviews.

We have a 3 1/2 year old and a 10 month old. Looking for a nice rental in one of those places. I did get some leads but they are 4-5 years old. (Some of the posts that came up when I did my search were from 1999 and I will follow up with those but thought if anyone had any recent info, I'd appreciate it.)

TIA!

I haven't rented a condo recently, but do frequent Rehoboth regularly. Most rentals (at least in Rehoboth) are through realtors. Dewey has a reputation has the "party town" of the three.

Here's a link to the chamber of commerce that lists local realtors. Many have searchable inventories of rentals. Good luck.

cindy:

I only rented from Prudential before and the rental property was 2 blocks from the ocean on Philadelphia at Rehoboth Beach, it was 3 BD for $900/week. I'd suggest calling ASAP because I made the reservation 2 weeks before your posting this thread in 2001 and there was so little property left to rent for summer. The reality company I mentioned also has property in Dewey Beach. Again, I wanted a Dewey Beach property but it wasn't available so call ASAP, again I can't stress that enough.

With a young family (or pretty any family) I would avoid Dewey Beach-its mostly college kids. Bethandy Beach is nice, but many of the rentals are huge homes-for extended families of 15-20. Sea Colony is the best best. Its s series of hi-rise condos. It's very expensive, and you will additionally have to purchase tags for use of the recreation facilities, so add some extra $$ to the rental amount. We've had much better success renting in the northern Ocean City. We can get more bang for our buck and have more $$ for other things, like the outlet malls and dining. Over the years we've worked with several realtors, and I've liked Coldwell Banker the best. they have properties in both MD and DE. To date, they have been very reliable in describing the properties, the pros and cons of units.

I agree with the other posters Dewey is party central. Bethany is more family friendly. Sea Colony has pools and tennis courts. I almost bought there years ago big mistake that I didn't. I actually like Lewes since it has a nice walking area and a nice Rocky mountain chocolate (they make their own different types of candy) and an old fashioned ice cream parlor.
JAck lingo has signs everywhere, I have never used them.
