Best Western ...Watch Out!
I recently had a difficult time with Best Western hotels...They misunderstood the dates and made a reservation for the day I called, not the date I had given them.
They charged as a No Show...like I would make a reservation for a hotel 300 miles away for that evening! While they admit that they may have made an error...they are totally unwilling to retify it!!!!Becareful...I will avoid them...Their customer service attempt was appalling...M.

I've never had a problem with them, but that doesn't mean others won't with this or any company. Hope you didn't pay the charged amount. Do a "dispute charge" letter to your credit card company and let them take care of it.
Yes, dispute it in writing through your credit card company. Also, Conde Nast Traveler magazine has an "Ombudsman" column that gets good results appealing problems like this -- pick it up at a newsstand and write to them at the address listed in the column and they may be able to get your money back for you (companies hate to have these sorts of problems publicized in large-circulation magazines!). Good luck.

What happened to Maggie was unfortunate.

It's another reason that I feel more comfortable using Best Western's (or any other hotel chain's) internet reservation site to make reservations. Not only do I print out my confirmation page and take it with me, but most sites will send an additional confirmation to my e-mail address. I always print this one also. Having made dozens of internet reservations this way, I have never had a problem. It takes all the human error out of it (except mine of course)!

Best Western hotels are all franchised so there is some variance throughout the system.

I strongly second the recommendation of the previous poster regarding booking your accomodations online. I do it all the time.

There are many advantages to booking online. It is much more convenient, usually the rates are lower, there are often rooms available when the hotel is "Full". An like the previous poster said, you have a hard copy record of the transaction.

I personally use the Travel Web site at www.travelweb.com for booking online.
