Best Western Monterey Inn

Anybody stay at the Best Western Monterey Inn? I'm going to Monterey next year (first time beleive it or not). I was looking for reasonable (as in moderate) accomodations pricewise.

Check out this website: www.pacificgrove.org. It lists all the hotels and B and Bs in the great Monterey Peninsula town of Pacific Grove. Best location on the peninsula and surrounded by the Monterey Bay and Pacific Ocean.

ASILOMAR is a state owned facility across the street from the ocean and well known by the locals. Great location and about a 10 minute drive to Monterey if you drive slow and 15 to Carmel.

why wouldn't we believe you when you say it is your first time going to Monterey?

Because everybody has been to Monterey except for a few stubborn folks who have yet to get on the bandwagon. Frankly, I'm impressed at how m-tx was able to hold out so long. How did he manage?

Are you kidding?!? There is someone who posted on this board who hasn't been to Monterey? I find that difficult to believe.

My husband, daughter and I stayed at this hotel in June of 1999. For the money, I thought it was fine. There are not many hotels in the area that are right on the beach and this is one of them. A few things to remember: the pool is on the front of the property and in the shade most of the day. The rooms have outside doors and people do tend to hang around on the balcony to watch the sunset which was gorgeous. Even though the room isn't very large, it was adequate. I don't remember anything about a breakfast, whether or not it was provided. The only thing to look out for is this: make sure that your room is not below the upper level restaurant. Ours was, and we could hear the staff scraping the chairs across the wooden floor every night when they closed. But, as far as convenience, this was a great location.

No,I've never, ever been to Monterey.
But thanks for all your responses. I still undecided about BW Monterey Inn though.
Any reasonable, budget to moderate priced lodgings near the beach, wharf, cannery row area?
What lodging and areas should I avoid?
