Best way to Yankee Stadium
Staying in Midtown around 57th Street and was wondering what the best way to get to tour of Yankee Stadium that starts at 12:00 or 1:00? The subway seems the most efficient way but is there any safety concerns going to the Bronx in the middle of the day?

You won't have a problem on the subway and you are only 1 stop away from Manhattan. Take the D train up the west side and it will drop you right off at Yankee Stadium. LOTS of people will be on the train miday. The D is the line I use to get home.

You can also take the uptown Lexington Avenue train from 59th Street and Lexington. It is very safe.

If you are on the West Side go to Columbus Circle (59th St.) and take the D train UPTOWN to 161st St. station. If on the East Side go to 59th St. and Lexington Ave. station. Take the #4 train UPTOWN to 161st St. station. There are no safety conceRns traveling mid day

I'm going to a 4 pm game on a Saturday evening. Is it safe to assume that it will still be early enough to be a safe travel on the subway back to Midtown?

This is not the Bronx of 20 years ago folks. Even taking the subway home after night games- is fine. You and 500 other people-all happy and half drunk, but not a danger in any way.

I agree with Italyagain. Taking either the Lex or the B to or from Yankee Stadium is safe, especially to come back to Manhattan after a night game. The MTA runs extra trains to get everyone out and it's you and a few hundred of your fellow Yankee fans. Since they stop selling beer before the 7th inning, most people have sobered up by the end of the game, too. The NYPD has a small office/station in the subway station itself - there are always cops around.
The Bronx county courthouse is a few blocks up the street and I used to have to go there early in the morning, in the middle of the afternoon and sometimes for night court. I never had a problem - and I'm a 5'2" white woman. |
Almost every Yankee game has at least 50,000 attendees - the majority of which come by public transit. You couldn;t possibly be safer.
