Best way to get from O'Hare Airport to Hotel Blake, 500 Dearborn St.?
What is the best way to get from O'Hare Airport to Hotel Blake, at 500 Dearborn Street, (near West Congress Parkway) ? Airport shuttle, taxi, or subway? I'll be landing around noon on Saturday.

The best is a taxi but the subway is the cheapest. It will get you within a couple of blocks.

If you aren't burdened with too many suitcases, I would definitely opt for the Blue Line train. The cost is roughly $2.50 and the ride is about 45 minutes. Others will maybe suggest to you which would be the closest station to get off. I always do Clark/Lake, which gets me pretty close to a N Michigan Avenue area hotel.

If your hotel is near West Congress Parkway, then it is on SOUTH Dearborn Street. (There is also NORTH Dearborn which is near NORTH Michigan Avenue). You will still want to take the Blue Line but get off further down the line. Jackson probably makes sense. From there you are just a few blocks away, no cab necessary really.

The Blake is on South Dearborn. It's important to use that designation in the address to avoid confusion.
You can take the Blue Line subway. The single fare is $2.25. Follow the signs that say "CTA Trains to City" from the baggage level of your terminal. If you'll be using public transit while you're in the city, you may want to invest in a transit pass. There is a vending machine at the rail station that sells 3-day passes for $14 and accepts debit/credit cards. If you're staying less than 3-days, you can purchase a 1-day pass in the O'Hare Hilton for $5.75. You can take the Blue Line to either Jackson or LaSalle Street. The Jackson stop is 2 blocks north of the Blake Hotel and has elevators. The LaSalle stop is 2 blocks west of the hotel, but you'll have to walk the stairs. The CTA is doing maintenance on the Blue Line tunnel under Dearborn Street. On many weekends, service is suspended between Clark/Lake and UIC/Halsted from 10 pm Friday and 4 am Monday. If service is suspended, there will be shuttle buses to replace the trains. Weekend closures are announced are usually announced on Wednesday or Thursday on the CTA site at www.transitchicago.com under News. So, you'd take the train from ORD to Clark/Lake and transfer to a bus which will stop at each closed station. A cab would cost you around $40-$50 depending on traffic. |
Thank you all so much! this is very helpful!
